Why I love Macramé

I fell in love with the art of macramé after making my very first plant hanger.

I immediately started thinking about all of the things I could make using macramé. I was making hanging shelves and plant hangers, and then it turned into wall art and big wedding arches.

What really attracted me to the art, and keeps me obsessed with it, is the endless possibilities. There are SO MANY options with macramé and I keep a long of list of new things that I want to try. There are practical items like produce hammocks and baskets, to knickknack shelves. And things that are just for fun like wall hangings and charms for your car.

Macramé can be both decorative and functional

One thing that I really enjoy is the challenge of working on custom orders to make something that I have never made before. It is really fun to work through the how-to’s and learn from experience (and mistakes). You never know what is possible until you try!

I also really enjoy teaching macramé workshops.

It’s really satisfying to be in community and creativity with others and to gift others with a new skill or talent. Seeing everyone proudly displaying their macramé that they made themselves brings me joy. Overhearing new friendships forming over knot-tying is something I don’t think I could ever tire of.
